We are heartbroken and angry, but not silent.
In a final vote that was 218 to 214, Congress has passed the Budget Reconciliation Bill, and with it, some of the most harmful cuts to Medicaid and essential services in decades. These are services that people with disabilities rely on to live, work, and participate in their communities.
The bill is expected to cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid and put the health insurance of 17 million Americans in danger.
As a disability-led organization, we know these cuts threaten our lives and our freedom. But we also know that disabled people are powerful, and we are not going anywhere.
To our disabled community, we see you. We know how scary this is. We know how exhausting it is to keep fighting for what should already be yours. You deserve better than this, and we will never stop fighting alongside you.
Although this harmful bill passed, the work is far from over. Able SC will continue pushing to make sure disabled voices are heard and centered as this law is put in place. We will do everything we can to reduce the harm and protect our community.
Your life has value. Your voice matters. And together, we are stronger than anything they throw at us.
Stay with us. Fight with us. We love you, and we are not backing down.

Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [Your City], [Your State].
I'm contacting you to report my frustration with the passage of the budget reconciliation bill. It will make harmful changes to Medicaid and other critical programs that people rely on to live safely and independently—especially people with disabilities, older adults, low-income families, and children.
This bill is going to:
These changes aren’t just cruel—they’re dangerous. Every major disability, aging, and children’s organization opposed this bill because it is going to cost lives.
But the damage doesn’t stop there. Medicaid supports our workforce and local economy. The cuts will:
Medicaid isn’t just a health program—it’s a lifeline for families and a pillar of economic stability in our communities.
We need leadership that protects, not punishes, the people Medicaid was created to serve.
Thank you for your time.
Thank You
